Ahimsa Welfare Society

At Ahimsa Welfare Society, our vision is deeply rooted in the teachings and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. We believe that true progress lies not only in material advancement but in nurturing human happiness through mental and moral growth. Guided by Gandhian values of nonviolence, equity, and community empowerment, we strive to build inclusive, compassionate, and resilient communities—where every individual, especially the most vulnerable, can thrive with dignity and purpose.

Founded by a group of committed young volunteers, Ahimsa strives to ensure that every individual, especially the marginalized, can access their rights and live with dignity, purpose and opportunity.

Our Vision

At Ahimsa our vision is the state of swaraj where everyone lives in peace, happiness, best health, dignity and prosperity.

Our Mission

Our mission is to ensure having tools for accomplishing our visionary ends. We do this work by convening, engaging, mobilizing and supporting the sector, to ensure we all have the means to make our world an amazing place to live-in.

Our Focus

Health & Nutrition

Ahimsa Welfare Society addresses health and nutrition challenges by promoting a rights-based, community-led approach focused on long-term well-being. Recognizing the shift from communicable to chronic diseases and the deep link between poverty and poor health, Ahimsa works to improve service delivery, empower local governance, and enhance community participation.

Our initiatives focus on stopping child marriages, maternal and child health, nutrition for vulnerable groups, and preventive practices like breastfeeding, immunization, and adolescent care, ensuring accessible, and sustainable healthcare at the grassroots.

Education & Child Rights

Ahimsa Welfare Society works to make sure every child gets quality education and grows up in a safe, supportive environment. We follow the Right to Education Act and the UN’s guidelines for children’s rights to stop abuse and protect vulnerable children. Our work includes helping schools become more child-friendly, spreading awareness about children’s rights, and supporting access to justice.

We also promote both formal and non-formal learning and follow Gandhiji’s idea of 'Nai Talim' (learning by doing) to help every child learn with dignity and confidence.

Youth & Community Development

Ahimsa Welfare Society empowers young people to become confident, active citizens by guiding them through self-exploration, leadership, and community involvement. We

work to improve rural livelihoods through skill-building, women’s entrepreneurship, and sustainable farming.

By partnering with local organizations and promoting grassroots participation, we aim to build stronger communities and create long-term opportunities for youth and vulnerable groups.

Natural Resource Management

Ahimsa Welfare Society works to protect the environment and promote sustainable living by encouraging communities to reconnect with nature and adopt eco-friendly practices. We focus on raising awareness, conserving water through watershed planning, promoting traditional climate solutions, and using clean energy.

By implementing initiatives like rainwater harvesting, waste management and sustainable development, we aim to build resilient communities that live in harmony with the planet.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

Ahimsa is committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a shared global roadmap for creating a better future for all. These 17 interconnected goals address urgent challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and environmental degradation.

By confronting these issues head-on, Ahimsa is helping build a more just, equitable, and sustainable world—a world where no one is left behind.
